Goodness Gracious - I know I said in the last blog post I'd publish more extracts from Steven George's Heartless book, but something much more important has sparked my interest. It stated a week or so ago, around the time the Jay appointment was being discussed on twitter !
Helpful to read Matthew Scott's post here
It wasn't the numbers of 'victims' that caught my attention though, it was Rotherham, as in Rochdale, as in 'Susie' a genuine victim of a group of callous men, whose plight was IGNORED because, those she accused were Asians, and that just didn't sit right with anyone, not the Police, not social services , not the CPS, NO-ONE !
I've often tried to work out just WHY the same agencies were so quick to append guilt to a figure like Sir Jimmy Savile. I'd hinted at the reason in the post above, and, as usual, I experienced another revelation this week
'May sue' ? Is that Richard Scorer ? Is that 26th September 2012, a week before the Savile dance began ?
The ITV Slater Gordon Abuse Roadshow was kicking off, not in Leeds, not in Scarborough, not in Shepherds Bush or Broadcasting House, but in Rochdale, following the publication of an official 'report'
Hold on, the men were convicted in May 2012 ! Did any of these solicitors consider lodging civil claims against the perpetrators themselves ? I somehow doubt this, better wait for the richer pickings, the pockets of Rochdale taxpayers !
Not sure WHY there are 'another 10 cases in the pipeline' Must be the Savile effect !
I don't know why the thought never crossed my mind to look for Susie in the compo game. She has to be Girl A, why didn't they just call her Susie ? Being one of the FEW genuine abuse complainants whose abusers were eventually tried and convicted following (over) Due Process, the thought of compensatory gain hadn't crossed my mind. I'm not sure how or when it crossed hers, and I certainly do not for one second begrudge her, especially when one considers her journey reporting abuse, one that did NOT start at the doors of the Daily Mirror, Mail or Slater Gordon. No, she did things the right way round - reporting her abusers in 2009. Four years later20th December 2013
It's certainly worth a read - if only for this honest and uplifting admission on Susie's part
Bravo Susie - even if it was Slater and Gordon who assisted you in your civil claim. As for the (over)Due Criminal Process, there's something else that's striking about this case, the FORENSIC evidence ! That's DNA to you and me kids ! OMG, how did the CPS fail to prosecute this ?
As for those 1400 projected 'victims' a la Rotherham (see tweet above) the same figure has been used elsewhere. If only these ambulance chasing lawyers, along with the same agencies to 'blame' for ignoring Susie, would stop these wild exaggerations, that can only do harm to genuine victims. I guess exaggeration has it's uses though !
Laugh out loud, whatever happened to the 76 politicians ?
Thank Goodness for Jimmy Savile eh ?
Police have 'vulnerability' teams know ! Who knew as we say on twitter ?
Susie's testimony of a real abuse victim has been hi-jacked. Why ? I commend you to read Ms Hewson's excellent article here. I'm liking this Lord Wolfe chap,is he still alive ?
